Friends with Games is an initiative to help youths between the ages of 13 to 25 located in rural Northern Sweden who are interested in Game Development to learn more about the industry, as well as meet other like-minded youths , through a series of 48 hour Game Jams.
These game jams are open and free to attend for any participant between the ages of 13 and 25, regardless of prior knowledge. To facilitate learning and understanding of what Game Development entails, we have brought in mentors of various levels, as well as backgrounds to answer any questions that may arise.
The goal of these Game Jams is to create and facilitate meaningful interactions between youths within rural communities by providing the means and motivation to engage in a creative hobby - be it in creating music, art, writing or programming - and applying those skills to Game Development.
This project has been initiated by Sunderby Folkhögskola, with Boden GameCamp and Cafiend as collaborators, and is funded by the EU Rural Development Fund.
